WWLA was proud to support local school Waimauku and their Rip Rugby Team at the recent AIMS games in Tauranga.
This was a large event – larger than the Olympics in terms of participants, with nearly 13,000 Intermediate school-age kids. There was a total of 390 schools competing in 27 sports, ranging from netball/rugby to mountain biking and surfing.
The Waimauku School rip rugby team really enjoyed their time in Tauranga. The weather was fantastic for the week and they played a total of 12 games. They scored an incredible 54 tries in total and had some great wins. In the end, they came 6th in the Heartland division and 38th out of 59 teams overall. It was an awesome experience for the kids, both to compete in their sport and to support other teams in different sports.
Waimauku School commented “We really appreciate the sponsorship, because as you can imagine the costs involved for the week-long competition from food, accommodation, transport to and from the games really mount up. So every little bit counted. So we really appreciate the support and thank you wholeheartedly.”
